Jennifer Mahowald is the Senior Paralegal at Cortes Law Group, where she works closely with Attorneys Cortes and McClean, along with the rest of the case management team, to guide clients through some of life’s most personal and difficult legal transitions. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from the Minnesota School of Business in 2011 and has since built a career defined by compassion, thoroughness, and client-focused service.
Her journey in family law began with the Hennepin County Co-Parent Court in Minnesota, where she gained hands-on experience in custody and parenting cases while working directly with the presiding Judge and Court Clerks. Over the years, she has expanded her family law experience by assisting with divorce and child custody disputes. At Cortes Law Group, Jennifer partners with the attorneys and case management team to manage cases from start to finish—drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, organizing case files and evidence, and preparing for hearings and trials.
Jennifer understands that family law matters can be overwhelming, and she is committed to offering clients not only legal support but also empathy and reassurance throughout the process. Clients appreciate her approachable nature, strong communication, and steady guidance during times of uncertainty.
Outside of her professional role, Jennifer enjoys relaxing cruises, spending quality time with her adult children, painting, reading, and caring for her three cats and dog.
